It can be difficult, and downright lonely, as an at-home mom in Mount Pleasant, trying to find alternatives to disposable diapers or being the only one at playgroup not using plastic cups. But through their website, gogreencharleston.com, Jennifer and her techie-husband Chad are creating a virtual green community, raising awareness about local environmental resources and helping people fulfill their eco-intentions. “We saw a need and tried to fill it,” says Jennifer, a former Charleston Ballet Theater dancer and mother of two (#3 on the way). “I didn’t have an environmental community where I could ask questions or find resources.” The site includes a green map, an extensive list of businesses, organizations and events, and a discussion board. “I’m certainly not the greenest person out there,” Jennifer admits, “but opening our lives and ideas to an environmentally aware community has helped us strive to do more.”

One of Jennifer's favorite green finds since launching GoGreen Charleston on Earth Day '07— "Palmetto Diaper Works, I didn't know we had a local non-disposable diaper option!" Rest assured the soon-to-debut littlest Norman will sport "Happy Heiny" or "Econappis." For a full list of Jen's fav green businesses, see gogreencharleston.org.
