Lindsey Quay Sikes has designs on her future.
Ever since she was four years old, Lindsey has loved to draw. “I used to go into my brother’s room and take his paper and pencils.” Even from a young age, she loved sketching people and clothing. It’s no surprise that the 21-year-old College of Charleston senior is majoring in Costume Design and Arts Management. Lindsey would like to earn a graduate degree in Costume Design and go on to work in regional theatre. She is getting her share of experience now, currently working on The Ash Girl, a CofC production which opens in November. She finds inspiration in fairy tales and movies like The Lord of the Rings, where historic costuming and fantasy can be blended together seamlessly. Lindsey also recently had her hands full putting together her exhibit, “Render,” on display at LimeBlue through the end of the month, which includes a wide variety of her sketches and completed designs. “I wanted to tie in my love of costume design with my love of the art world,” she says of the exhibit.
