Gotta love a guy who understands mascara. Peter and his wife Ginger opened the first Stella Nova on King Street in 1991. "We began as a retail store with products that nobody else offered. We were the alternative to the department store makeup counter, where sales people only pushed their brand," says Peter, a Charleston native and makeover specialist on the home renovation front. Seventeen years later, Stella is all grown up and has branched out to offer full-service spa, skincare and hair salon services in five different locations, including the Society Street spa that Peter renovated himself. "I've always been a risk taker. I like to build and create, see how far things can go," he says. His beauty secret? "Take good care of the people who work for you, let them do what they love, and they'll take good care of the customer."
The best thing about wearing a skirt?: "I appreciate the freedom, but it also makes me happy I don't have to wear one everyday."
His favorite thing about reading skirt!: "I like the focus on empowering women. skirt! gives them the okay to do something good for themselves."
