yesterday afternoon we scampered out of the office with the promise of some mayoral remarks, a lively familial celebration, and... okay, we heard there would be wine.
our building is now the sonny goldberg building, which was formerly the site of sonny goldberg’s furniture center – and currently the site of sonny goldberg ghost sightings if you ask our buildingmates. anywho, around 4:30 the street started to get pretty crowded so we popped down to work our way into the crowd.

first the mayor spoke, then a friend of sonny’s, then sonny’s son:

the mayor is in the glasses and sonny’s son is at the podium.
then the mayor got up and spoke again, he also sang some of sonny’s commercial jingles, but unfortunately i’m not a charleston native and couldn’t sing along with the rest of the crowd!

cristina had to stay upstairs to work on ads, but she felt she should say hello.
after all the hullabaloo, they ripped the paper off of the new plaque on the building:

if they had asked me to edit it, i would have put a comma after ‘carefully’ but that’s just me.
