vday on the road: day four, the neverending day

Friday, April, 11, 2008

vday has been AMAZING so far, i’m really speechless, but sab and i have had a great day getting used to the layout of superlove at the superdome. we’ve met some really cool people who, like us, have come from out of town, and we’ve also found a handful of the atlanta ladies that we met at charis!

the format of superlove is basically a free for all. it’s speakers and panels on the main floor all day, and the perimeter of the main floor is made up of a vday timeline, a yurt, a giant vagina, artwork, an altar, and displays from different vday cities. on the upper levels are relaxation lounges for makeovers, yoga, health tips and (bad) food. there was also an activist lounge where we hung out for a while hoping to get awesome feministness to rub off on us!

we also finished up the superlove day with a feminist rave. it was probably the best thing EVER... my legs still hurt. i took video of myself and my new friend donna karan – i’ll put it up, not to worry!

the final event was a new play, entitled “swimming upsteam” which was so amazing that i can only justify it with a coherent blog entry, instead of mindless 3:30 am typing! it was truly inspiring and very smart, with a sassy side – just right. i’ll write about it later!!
