fashion super side show

sabrina’s already let the cat out the bag, but, WE’RE MODELS! the fashion side show is the week before charleston fashion week gets started, and it features the work of local designers and boutiques, with their wares modeled on regular people like us.

last night i got to meet my designer, phoebe byers, whose line is called ‘philadora.’ what she does is take old vintage clothes and re-work them into something totally different. so last night we tried on dresses and jumpsuits (yes, jumpsuits) in their original form and practiced walking to the music...

by next week phoebe will have revamped the piece of clothing we each wore until it becomes something totally different! what i tried on was an odd-shaped dress with serious waist ruching, but here’s a closeup of the fabric – a fantastic satiny yellow with white flower print:

How fab! Do you get to keep the clothes? Love your shiny yellow - but I think the designer should leave the ruffly jumpsuit intact! Really, is there another piece of clothing more functional and stylishly simple than the jumpsuit? Well, except for that part of having to get completely undressed every time you have to pee... ~Jessica Leigh
