As a kid, Riddick kept rhythm for the Fife and Drum Corps of Colonial Williamsburg, his hometown, but these days he marches to a more eclectic beat. “I come from a musically inclined family. My older brother exposed me to a broad range of music,” says the former investment banker who moved to Charleston in 1998, after buying the Music Farm. These days he promotes and produces quality live music events through Shoreline Productions, which is a partner in ChazzFest, the Charleston Music and Heritage Festival. “Charleston sorely needed a legitimate, multi-genre music festival,” says Riddick, who also opened Poe’s Tavern on Sullivan’s Island. “We hope that ChazzFest’s variety will appeal to a cross-section of Charleston. Music is one of the things that transcends economic and racial boundaries, and we could use more of that.”
The best thing about wearing a skirt? “Proving that my 2nd place showing in the 1989 Mr. Bruton High ‘Best Legs’ contest wasn’t a fluke.”
His favorite thing about reading skirt!? “It guides my ongoing quest to unlock the mysteries of the female psyche.”
