happy holidays, srsly

Wednesday, December, 19, 2007

all this war on christmas jazz has got me annoyed. we hear it every year, that The Secularists are trying to dispose of christmas or something. rah rah rah. i mean i love christmas as much as the next stressed-out christian shopper, but since when did celebrating christmas immediately elevate you to superior person status?

i like it when people say happy holidays. i take away tips i’ve left for waiters when they wish me a merry christmas. i do! and i do it because i think that it’s a classy and thoughtful person that wishes me a happy holiday, a person who considers other peoples’ private lives, a person who realizes that although merry christmas isn’t necessarily outrightly offensive, it can be incorrect and (i think) narrow-minded.

plus, happy holidays includes new years too! i just prefer to wish someone a happy holiday season with their friends and family, rather that one happy religion-specific day. and i hope more people see the logic in this, though i won’t count on mike huckabee agreeing anytime soon:
