The windows in our office overlook King Street, and, as of about two months ago, Nancy Koltes. This store is an absolute dream to me. It’s about the closest thing Charleston has to Anthropologie--but without the clothing. It’s the side of Anthropologie with the amazing bedding displays, luxurious robes, cheeky undies, and tabletops covered wtih knicknacks.
Being a 20-something who lives alone and pays astronomical rent (in my opinion) there’s no way I could afford the $270 sheet sets and $670 duvets. But walking into the shop, with its whitewashed walls and floors, and its neutral tones with a smattering of color (like their amazing quilts), it’s like a fantasy brought to life. Looking down on their ever-changing window displays, I feel inspired to have a little bit of luxury in my life.
Luckily, their knickknacks are priced right up my alley, so everytime there’s a reason for gift-giving, I pop my head in and usually come out with something great.
Another thing I love, is that the shop assistants treat you warmly, whether you’re purchasing a $20 vase or a $340 throw.
I love you, Nancy Koltes.
