A few years ago Anne Newell was hoping to direct her charitable giving towards more local organizations, but was having a hard time identifying them. "I thought if I'm having a hard time finding small nonprofits, others must be too," says the experienced business and personal coach. In order to help these organizations raise both visibility and funds, she created Chicks with Checks, a unique twist on the popular giving circles concept. Each Chicks with Checks party highlights a local community service project serving women and children.
