last week i got to meet with our upcoming girl power subjects. usually we only feature one girl, but this group sounded so amazing to us that we agreed to feature all 4 of the lovely ladies!
the girls are part of a group called ‘surf n turf’ at ce williams middle school, the group had already learned to surf and were moving on to turfing this time around. while i was there for the interview, i got to be a part of the announcement of their next challenge – hiking mount mitchell, the largest peak this side of the mississippi!
GET READY GIRLS:
the other great thing about meeting the girls was that as we spoke, their personalities slowly came out.
bethany – the resourceful animal-lover who told me how she sat in a tree dressed in black on halloween and scared passersby, is already planning on packing her herb kit for the journey.
alex – the mini feminist and future lawyer who’s glad the club is just for girls and lists india.arie’s “video” as the best song to describe her. i learned to love myself unconditionally, because I am a queen – indeed!
morgan – the sensible blonde who loves science and social studies and gossips that she heard some boys saying they wished they could join the club.
and finally jessie – who i am assured is actually talkative, but remained fairly quiet until the end when she saved the best for last: “i’ve learned no matter what, you’ll always have somebody with you, even when you think there’s no one around – there is.”
brava to these young girls, i hope they keep rockin, errr... climbing!
