Peter Kiral pulls some strings
By margaret, Thursday, April 1, 2010We’re not sure if it’s his alluring Slovakian accent or the way his nimble fingers dance on the neck (no, not that neck, the instrument’s neck), but Peter has managed to put Vivaldi back on our playlist. The son and grandson of musicians, Peter began classical violin training at age six and eventually went on to the Conservatory of Bratislava and the University of Art in Bratislava. After playing with orchestras and symphonies throughout Europe, he enrolled in the Artist Certificate program at the College of Charleston, and discovered an international music community here, which led to creating Charleston Virtuosi. Peter is manager and a founding member of this professional international ensemble that brings beautiful music to weddings and special events around the Lowcountry. “Music is your ticket to everywhere,” says Peter, who also plays with the Charleston and Greenville symphonies. “I love being on stage, hearing applause, making people happy. That’s what it’s about.”
The best thing about wearing a skirt? “It’s very airy and comfortable, and I get to show off my wife, Alena’s, designs.”
His favorite thing about reading skirt!? “It’s different. Big and colorful.”
